Bentleigh/Highett/Cheltenham defeated Waverley Park Hawks

Bentleigh/Highett/Cheltenham have secured their first victory against the Waverley Park Hawks at Highett Reserve. From the start the boys from Bentleigh/Highett/Cheltenham commanded the game, scoring an impressive 5 goals in just the first quarter, and they didn’t plan to slow down. By half time Bentleigh/Highett/Cheltenham had 9 goals and finished the match with an incredible 13 goals. Their star goal scorer was Archie Grikis with 6 goals to his name. The Waverley Park Hawks played with pride and pushed through until the end, led by Vice Captain Patrick Klonis who shared 2 goals for the Hawks.
Beaumaris FC defeated by AJAX JFC

The Sharks found themselves in choppy waters at their home ground as AJAX won by 49-points. The Sharks showed great intensity in their game as they continued to score goals each quarter. However, the lead that the Jackas gained right from the start was tough to compete with. The Shark’s Campbell Brown scored 4 goals and was impressive. AJAX brought on a dominant and competitive game from the outset, scoring 5 goals in the first quarter and refusing to slow down. Dion Zukerman scored 4 goals for the Jackas, and seven other players scored as well. AJAX now remains undefeated at the top of the ladder.
St Peters FC defeated Murrumbeena JFC

St Peters FC put on a masterclass performance against Murrumbeena JFC at Centenary Park this Sunday. At the end of the first quarter there was a 6-point difference, and the game was extremely tight. However, St Peters brought their A game to the second quarter and managed to create a 35-point lead by half time. St Peters had multiple star goal scorers including Brody Joyce (4 goals) and Matthew Logan (3 goals). It was a tough day for the Lions, however they continued through to the end and are preparing to play the Waverley Park Hawks next round.
St. Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC defeated Ormond JFC

The Tigers pounced on their 38-point victory this weekend against Ormond at Mentone Reserve. The Tigers got the ball rolling with 6 goals by half time and held off their opposition to only 3 goals. As the game went on the Tigers maintained the pressure and roared to a successful 6 goal lead. They kept Ormond from scoring any goals in the second half. The Tigers star goal scorer of the game was Fletcher Gardner who booted 3 snags, and five other Tigers put goals on the score board. The Tigers are now in second position on the ladder. The Monders fought hard and kept the Tigers to only 3 goals in the second half and will be fired up for their Friday night clash against Bentleigh/Highett/Cheltenham this week.

Waverley Park Hawks defeated South Melbourne Districts AFC

The Waverley Park Hawks soared to a 52-point victory against SMDJFC at Wellington Reserve. The Hawks showed efficiency and strength as they scored 3 goals in the first quarter and continued from there. Although SMDJFC remained scoreless until the last quarter they stuck it out till the end and Emma Westerbeek scored for them. The Hawks star goal scorers were Isabel Metaxas (2 goals) and Gemma Patane (2 goals). The Hawks can now fly into their Bye this weekend with a win on the board as SMD prepare to play East Brighton Vampires JFC.
St Peters/Bentleigh defeated by Beaumaris FC

The Sharks swam to another victory and defeated St Peters/Bentleigh by 11-points in an extremely tight game. Mackenzie Farrington and Hannah Duncan both scored 2 goals for the Sharks to help secure the win. Tess Baxter also booted 2 goals for St Peters/Bentleigh; however, the Sharks held onto their victory through tough contested footy. A very close match between both teams as they set to prepare for their next round against tough competition.
Murrumbeena JFC defeated East Brighton Vampires JFC

The Lionesses have marched to a strong victory as they defeated the Vampires by 19 points at Beena Arena. The Lionesses took the field ready to win and prove themselves on the park. Despite not putting any score on the board during the first quarter the Lionesses scored a momentum shifting 3 goals on the scoreboard to surpass the lead the Vampires once had, bringing the score to 18 points for the Lionesses and 15 for the Vampires at halftime. The Lionesses held on to their lead, restricting the Vampires from scoring only a couple of points after halftime. Georgia Miller was crucial with 2 goals for the Lionesses.
