OCG vacancies, career advice, transitioning and more

The South Metro Junior Football League in conjunction with Marsh Insurance, the league’s insurance broker and risk adviser, has arranged insurance coverage for all affiliated Member Clubs, officials, coaches, umpires, volunteer workers and players.

The Marsh Insurance website provides important information about your insurance program.

We ask club officials to take the time to read the policy documents and information flyers. All club members are also encouraged to do the same. It is highly important that all Member Clubs are aware of the coverage provided and the procedure to follow in the event of a claim, prior to an incident occurring. Failure to be aware of the extent of coverage and procedures to follow often leads to unnecessary delays and, in some cases, disappointment.

The level of cover and competitive costs have been negotiated to benefit all Member Clubs, coaches and individual members who are part of, or want to be part of, this program.

The program provides broad protection across the following areas:

  • Public & Products Liability (including Professional Indemnity)

  • Club Management Liability

  • Personal Injury

  • Asset Protect is an automatic cover for all SMJFL sites at their declared primary location, should they wish to upgrade this cover beyond the base cover, please contact Marsh at

All affiliated Member Clubs are provided the base Bronze level of personal injury cover. We encourage all participants to take out private health insurance in addition to this policy. Member Clubs also have an opportunity to purchase increased coverage above the base Bronze level on behalf of all their teams.

It is important to note, this cover is not comprehensive, and we strongly recommend you consider your own personal needs including any need to procure additional cover (e.g Private Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Loss of Income insurance, Ambulance subscription) where appropriate. Legislation stipulates that any costs which can be claimed in full or part through Medicare, including the Medicare gap, cannot be reimbursed by the personal accident cover under the Australian Football National Risk Protection Program.

Visit the Marsh Insurance website to find out more about your clubs’ cover.
