Lockdown entrepreneurs Sign Fairy have signed on to be the latest Preferred Partner of the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL).
There’s no dispute that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on all industries and individuals, with restrictions on group gatherings throughout 2020 making it difficult to celebrate special milestones.
Sign Fairy was started to provide a solution to celebrating milestones during the COVID-19 lockdown in Perth in April 2020. The Sign Fairy Melbourne Bayside team began their operations soon after in August.
Throughout the ‘Stay at Home’ lockdown in Victoria, the team at Sign Fairy have sought to bring a smile to everyone celebrating a special milestone from home by creating customisable yard displays.
The Sign Fairy team sets up their displays in the evening before or in the early morning for the ultimate surprise and photo opportunity.

Sign Fairy Melbourne Bayside founders Ben and Bligh said their yard displays are a great opportunity to celebrate special occasions in the current climate.

Ben and Bligh worked in the aviation industry up until March this year, witnessing first-hand the devastating impact the COVID-19 crisis.
“Working in aviation, we were impacted from the COVID-19 crisis earlier than most,” they said.
“Our last operational flights were in March 2020, some time before disruptions to business and life for most people in Australia.”
“This really gave us an indication of what might be to come. We wanted to find a business that would bring joy and connection during lockdown.”
“The nature of our jobs flying and having lived overseas meant we could see the appeal of finding ways to celebrate loved ones and milestones while not being connect physically.”

Ben said that the Sign Fairy team are excited to bring joy to the SMJFL community.
“We love that we can bring joy to a lot of people and help celebrate milestones and events that would usually be celebrated at a party or together. We’ve tried really hard to make sure it’s affordable and accessible way to celebrate for everyone.”
The displays are retrieved after 24 hours and reused, resulting in minimal waste.
The Sign Fairy team will be supporting SMJFL events throughout 2021, helping the league to celebrate special rounds and milestones.
