Statement from SMJFL Chief Executive Officer Sarah Loh
The league can provide an update following the latest announcement from the Victorian Premier this morning.
The Victorian Premier confirmed Victoria’s Chief Health Officer has declared the current restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne will remain in place until at least 11:59pm, Thursday 19 August 2021.
What this means for the SMFJL:
In compliance with the Victorian Government’s directions, the following rulings from the league remain in place:
All training, for clubs, umpires and all other league programs remains suspended, until further notice; and
All matches and social gathering events remain suspended, until further notice.
The league’s main priority remains the health and wellbeing of all players, coaches, umpires and volunteers of the league.
Exposure sites
We ask that clubs encourage their members to review exposure sites, their exposure windows, exposure Tiers and indicated necessary action in efforts to keep the community safe.
With exposure sites now present in our catchment area, this reiterates the importance to take caution and adhere to COVID-Safe protocols.
If you have been knowingly exposed to the virus or have been to the known exposure sites, continue to follow public health advice and COVID-Safe hygiene practices.
The league will continue to monitor the circumstances and communicate directly with clubs surrounding exposure sites, public health advice and rulings by the AFL.
