Monash University U17.5 Boys Division 1

 


Bentleigh/Highett/Cheltenham defeated by St Peters FC



St Peters FC claimed their first victory of the 2025 season in a tough battle at Highett Reserve against Bentleigh / Highett / Cheltenham on a sunny Autumn’s day.


After being down at the main break St Peters were able to find some dominance in the clearance and were efficient up forward kicking 8 goals in the second half to finish 28 point winners.


Both teams had an equal spread of players have maximum impact on the scoreboard with Harrison Robson and Archie Grikis claiming 2 goals apiece while Lucas Nanfra, Lewis Richardson, Brody Joyce and Jai Smith did the damage for St Peters also with a couple goals each.


Both teams will be looking to stay in the top 4 ahead of their Round 4 clashes.



St Bedes / Mentone Tigers AFC defeated Beaumaris FC



St Bedes / Mentone Tigers AFC continued their strong start to their 2025 campaign with a 7 goal win against Beaumaris.


The game was within a few straight kicks for majority of the game until the Tigers proved to be too much for Sharks across the ground keeping the Sharks scoreless in the last, whilst hitting the scoreboard 8 times themselves.


The Tigers had 7 goalkickers at Mentone Reserve with Joshua O’Brien doing the most damage with 3 goals to his name, making it a strong start to the season for him 7 goals across the first 3 rounds. The Sharks had 4 different goalkickers across the ground with Angus Skinner, Liam McNamara, Harvey Quirk and Ashton Hyland all finding the big sticks for the Sharks.



Monash University U18 Girls Division 1



Murrumbeena JFC defeated by Beaumaris FC



The Sharks are proving to be one of the teams to beat this season, with their third win on the trot, claiming a strong victory against Murrumbeena.


The Sharks travelled to Murrumbeena on Sunday, and so did all of their class right from the outset stretching to a monster 42 point lead at quarter time. What was equally impressive was the Lionesses keeping the Sharks to only 38 points for the remaining 3 quarters. Beena were able to hit the scoreboard 6 times after the first break thanks to a couple of goals from Claudia Wotherspoon and a goal from teammate Tara Magnanini.


The Sharks had 6 goalkickers Sunday with standouts being Stella McPherson kicking 4, Amelia Hart claiming 3 of her own and Rose Taylor rounding out the multiple goalkickers with 2 as well.



Prahran JFC defeated St Peters/Bentleigh



The final game of the Round proved to be potentially the game of the Round at Toorak Park. Prahran hosted St Peters / Bentleigh in a tight battle with both teams trying to maintain striking distance from the Top 2.


Both teams defences were hard to breach with a seesawing first quarter see both teams struggling to impact the scoreboard. However both were able to find the big sticks one apiece leading into the main break. Prahran stretched to a 2 and a half goal lead heading into the final change after a strong third quarter.


St Peters / Bentleigh never surrendered though and came out with the first two goals of the final term clawing their way back to be within less than a goal with time to spare. In the end, Prahran held out to be 3 point victors in an amzing display of footy from the girls on both sides.
