The SMJFL is partnering with AFL Victoria to deliver an AFL Nines tournament for children aged 13–16 years.
WHAT IS AFL NINES?
AFL Nines is a modified, non-contact version of football played in a relaxed and inclusive environment. It's a great introduction to football if you're new to the sport, and also a great way for current players to keep their skills and fitness up between seasons. Whether it's staying involved post-season, spending time with mates, or playing for the first time, AFL Nines offers something for everyone. TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Available Competitions: U14 Boys and Girls (born in 2012 and 2013), and U16 Boys and Girls (born in 2010 and 2011).
Competition Dates: Tuesday 20th October - Tuesday 1st December (6 week competition, no matches on Melbourne Cup Day).
Game Times: 5pm-8pm
Location: TBC
Team size: Minimum nine players, with unlimited rotating substitutes
Tournament Cost: $90 per player

Team Registrations
Once you have your team together, nominate one representative from your team to complete the team registration form here. Once complete, a team-specific registration link will be generated that can be shared to your teammates. Team registrations close on Monday 12th October 2026.
