South Metro Junior Football League re-signs Monash University for a further two years

The South Metro Junior Football League is thrilled to announce the extension of our ongoing partnership with Major Partner Monash University, for a further 2 years taking us through to the 2026 season.

SMJFL General Manager – Member & Business Services Cameron Watts is excited by the 2-year extension and said “The partnership extension for a further 2 seasons with Monash University showcases the strong relationship and connection the two organisation's share. This new partnership will see the SMJFL and Monash now be partners for 9 years at the conclusion of the new agreement."

“At the SMJFL, we strive to positively contribute to the community, and Monash clearly align with this through supporting the our players to be great leaders for their clubs and community.”

Monash University Director, Global Marketing, Caroline Knowles said "We are delighted to extend our partnership with the South Metro Junior Football League for another 2 years. This collaboration aligns with Monash University’s values and commitment to fostering leadership within our community and supporting the next generation of change makers.

Through initiatives like the Monash University Leadership Program and the Monash Leader of the Month, we are proud to play a role in empowering young athletes to become future leaders both on and off the field. We are also pleased to be supporting access to participation through the Monash Equity fund.

We look forward to continuing to make a positive impact together."

The Monash University brand and support of grassroots football in the South Metro region is well established, and the Monash’s branding can be seen prominent across the league through the Monash University Monday Review posts and articles, or through the placement on the Sherrin footballs and club jumpers the kids play with on match-day.

Monash support the league’s young leaders through the Monash Leader of the Month and the league have a strong media internship program where a Monash University student is chosen to fill this internship. This often leads to paid employment at the completion of the internship to support the league’s marketing activities across the whole season.

It is clear the partnership is strong, and the SMJFL looks forward to a further two years.
