The South Metro Junior Football League launched the 2024 season at RSEA Park on Friday 12th April.
The night was attended by Club Presidents & Secretaries, SMJFL partners, board & staff members, and special guest speaker Head of AFL Victoria – Greg Madigan. It was a great opportunity for the whole SMJFL community to come together and connect ahead of the season. The league would like to thank Monash University and OCG for being co-partners of the event.

At the conclusion of the launch, the season kicked off with a feature night match between Port South and East Sandringham Rovers U17.5 Boys Division 1. The match was the firstcommunity football game played under lights at RSEA Park for the SMJFL and it did not disappoint the crowd. Port South trailed all game to eventually win with a goal after the siren.
General Manager – Football Operations Bree Vallance said “It was a fantastic display of U17.5 boys’ football where the result came down to the final seconds. We couldn’t have asked for a better game. It was a great opportunity for the two teams who are made up of four our Clubs who have worked together to get the kids on the park.”
