SMJFL Statement on the Events in Bondi – Sunday 14 December

The South Metro Junior Football League acknowledges the deeply distressing events that occurred in Bondi on Sunday 14 December and extends its sincere condolences to all those affected.

The SMJFL is proud to be one of the only junior sporting leagues in Australia to include a Jewish club, representing more than 900 players, families, volunteers, and community members. Our league is built on the values of respect, inclusion, and belonging, and we stand firmly against hatred, violence, and discrimination in all forms.

We commend the professionalism, courage, and compassion shown by frontline responders and civilians who acted in support of others during this difficult time. Their actions reflect the very best of our community, our Australian way of life.
