The South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) are pleased to announce the appointment of the new Clubs & Community Lead – Liam Hollingsworth.
Liam joins us with a wealth of experience from the sports industry and graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Sports Management) from Deakin University in 2021. His most recent role was at the Greg Chappell Cricket Centre and is currently the Club Secretary at St Kevin’s Old Boys Basketball. Liam spent three years with the Northern Bullants Football Club (formerly Northern Blues Football Club) in the VFL from 2019-2022. During his time with the Bullants he gained experience in operations, admin and was a gameday coordinator.
He was involved with restoring the Bullants from the ground up after Carlton cut ties with them as an affiliate club in the VFL when COVID hit. It was such a difficult time for the Bullants when they ceased to exist, and Liam worked tirelessly with the Board of Directors to restructure and revive the football club in the hopes of playing Round 1 of the next VFL season. Being in that situation and then getting the confirmation to re-join the VFL again was the proudest moment of his my professional career.
Liam said he is "excited to join the SMJFL team moving forward. Everyone has been very welcoming and we have great ambitions for the season ahead. I eagerly await the opportunity to work closely with club representatives within the SMJFL and hope to build stronger relationships between the league and the clubs. I also encourage all club representatives to contact me for any help/advice they might seek, as I am dedicated to being as helpful as possible to all clubs in development, sustainability and education."
The SMJFL are also pleased to announce the appointment of Max Timlock and Portia Ronsberg.
Max joins the league as the Administration Assistant. Max began his journey as junior, playing with St Kilda City JFC and in 2023 he was apart of our match day staff assisting with events such as Welcome To Footy Carnival and the SMJFL OpenCorp Finals Series.
Portia Ronsberg joins the Umpiring department as the Umpire Administration Assistant. Portia is no stranger with the league having played junior football with Beaumaris FC and began umpiring with the league in 2018. She is also apart of the AFL Victoria Community Umpire Accelerator Program.
The league warmly welcomes Liam, Max, and Portia to the team and you can find their contact details below
