OpenCorp onboard until 2024

The South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) is pleased announce Community Fund Major Partner OpenCorp has renewed for a further three years.

The SMJFL Community Fund has been created to assist with the financial costs of playing football and operating a grassroots football club. OpenCorp’s continued support has contributed to reducing fees and charges for families and clubs, ensuring every child in the South Metro Melbourne region has the chance to live a fit and healthy lifestyle through participating in sport.

“The SMJFL’s core business is to facilitate the playing of Australian Rules Football, for anyone and everyone who wants to participate,” said SMJFL Chief Executive Officer Matthew Brown.

“The Community Fund helps to achieve this, and OpenCorp’s support and contributions to the Community Fund make it a reality.”

“We are delighted to support and foster such a great community initiative,” said OpenCorp CEO Matthew Lewison.

“We help everyday Australians to grow their wealth through property which, to us, means that we help people achieve their goals. That is why we are committed to providing support so that everyone in the SMJFL can play the game they love and reach their goals.”

Furthermore, in addition to OpenCorp’s renewal as Community Fund Major Partner, OpenCorp is now the naming rights partner of the SMJFL Umpire Academy and Finals Series.

The OpenCorp SMJFL Umpire Academy is the largest umpiring body in Victoria, with in excess of 660 umpires, performing approximately 4,650 umpiring appointments per home and away season and inducts more than 200 new first time umpires every year.

“We aim to produce the best quality umpires for all SMJFL games” said SMJFL Umpiring Administration Coordinator Doug Haworth.

“Our Umpire Academy is focused on the development of our umpires, through training and education, and OpenCorp’s support of the Academy ensures we are able to provide the resources necessary to achieve this.”

OpenCorp has been a partner of the SMJFL since 2020, helping the league ensure “It’s About the Kids!”
