MONASH UNIVERSITY MONDAY REVIEW - ROUND 12 2026

This week was TAC Road Safety Round, with many of our players wearing blue TAC armbands to raise awareness of road safety and honour lives lost on the road. This year’s road safety focus is speeding, which contributes to nearly 30% of fatal crashes and nearly 25% of serious injury crashes on Victorian roads.

MATCH OF THE ROUND

Caulfield Bears U15 Boys FRYAR def. AJAX U15 Boys FALCONS by 2 points

Caulfield Bears 6.11 (47) def. AJAX 6.9 (45) | Princes Park


It was a close contest at Princes Park as AJAX and Caulfield Bears went head-to-head in a tight U15 Boys Division 3 contest. Caulfield edged ahead early, taking a four-point lead into quarter time, but AJAX hit back in the second term with three goals to narrow the margin to just three points at the main break.


Momentum slowed in the third, with Caulfield's 1.3 to AJAX's 1.1 stretching the gap back to five points heading into a tense final quarter. The final term delivered the closest football of the day, AJAX adding 1.5 to their tally while Caulfield responded with 1.2, trimming the margin to two points but not quite enough to overturn Caulfield's early advantage.


Caulfield held firm at the final siren, claiming a hard-fought two-point win in a game that was close from start to finish.

A well-matched, low-scoring game unfolded at Castlefield Reserve as Hampton Rovers and St Kilda City battled through four momentum0shifting quarters in the U18 Girls Division 2 clash.


St Kilda City burst out of the gates with 2.2 in the opening term while Hampton Rovers were held scoreless, setting up a strong early lead. The Rovers responded in the second quarter, adding two goals and keeping St Kilda City to just 1.2 to pull the margin back within reach at half time.


The third term swing again, with Hampton unable to add to their tally while St Kilda City pushed ahead with an additional 2.1, extending their lead to 23 points at the final change. The game flipped dramatically in the last quarter, with Hampton Rovers surging home with 4.1 while St Kilda City went scoreless, overturning the deficit and snatching a two-point win at the final siren.


Ormond U17.5 Boys BURT def. AJAX U17.5 Boys COMETS by 23 points

AJAX and Ormond went head-to-head in a hard fought U17.5 Division 1 contest at Glen Huntly Park.


AJAX started strongly, taking a 7-point lead into quarter time, and extending it to 14 points by half time after adding 3.1 to Ormond's 2.0. the momentum shifted in the third term, with Ormond lifting to kick 3.2 while holding AJAX to just 1.1, cutting the margin back to a single point at the final change.


Ormond dug deep in the final quarter, scoring 4 goals and keeping AJAX scoreless to complete an impressive comeback victory.


Waverley Park Hawks U11 Mixed TERNES def. Caulfield Bears U11 Mixed O'KANE by 17 points

Waverley Park Hawks broke the game open after half time in their U11 Mixed Division 4 clash with Caulfield Bears at Wellington Reserve. Both sides opened evenly with 1.0 apiece in the first quarter, and Caulfield held a narrow one‑point lead at the main break after adding 1.1 in the second term.


The match shifted decisively in the third quarter. Caulfield were held scoreless while the Hawks added 2.2 to take control of the contest. Waverley Park closed out the game with another 0.3 in the final term, again keeping Caulfield scoreless, sealing a 17‑point win built off their dominant second‑half surge.

It was a statement game for Round 12 Player of the Round Hugo Hancock, scoring ten goals in a single outing in a head-turning performance. In a match where his side kicked 12 goals in total, Hugo was responsible for ten of them, marking an extraordinary effort that defined the contest and led the team to a decisive win over Mordi-Brae.
